Welcome to the Natural History Museum

Docent League of Southern California

The Docent League of Southern California was founded in 1973 as an association of docents from throughout the greater Los Angeles area.  The goal of the Docent League is to develop a network of docents in order to share experiences, ideas, and to learn from one another regarding areas of mutual interest and concern.

Our membership base consists of docents from various art, natural and cultural museums, botanical gardens, zoos, aquaria, historical societies, and other like-minded organizations.  Although the Docent League seeks to prioritize the successes and challenges that we face as volunteers, the organization is open to all docents, volunteers, and staff persons whose job is educational in character.  Three programs are offered annually, from September through June.

The call for annual dues goes out at the start of the fiscal year, July 1st.  Benefits extend through June 30th of the following year.  Dues are $25.00 per institution and allow institutions to send both staff and volunteers to Docent League programs at the discounted member rate.
